Park Farm is becoming increasingly popular with Hens seeking a luxurious nesting box for the weekend!

Meeting Mr Right, Falling in love.... getting engaged... from the moment you say those poignant and life changing words "I will" your life, for some time ahead, is going to focus on arranging your dream wedding!

Today, brides invariably have so much more of a say in the planning of their wedding, whilst only a mere two decades ago, the parents pretty much decided on everything!  How vividly I remember proudly putting a deposit down on my bridesmaids' dresses at Laura Ashley in Oxford Street only to be told that “..don't do that, we've arranged to hire some"!  I never went back to the shop, lost the deposit and was put very much back in my box!  I wouldn't have any of that now!!!

These days, and having seen half a dozen wonderful weddings evolve and take place here at Park Farm, I am so reassured to see the Bride being the one who now calls the shots!  My husband John and I have been bowled over by the enormous effort and support of close family & friends who turn up a few days early to help decorate the Barn or Marquee, cart strawbales around, arrange flowers, make sandwiches & signs and generally muck in!

So that leads us on to the all important pre-wedding get together of close girlfriends the "Hen weekend"!  With enough to do sorting out your Wedding day, a few lucky Hens with a best friend who's an Event Organiser or Party Planner are made, but the rest of them are hoping that a good friend (preferably with OCD) may step in and offer to take on the organisation of your special Hen Weekend - be under no illusion, this is no mean feat!  From the initial search for the perfect property right through to collecting of money off people (so tedious!) and organising who's sleeping where and what the weekend activities ought to be, being the lead Hen takes a lot of thought, imagination, energy and love!

Here at Park Farm in Somerset, Hen Parties have become a regular event!  We now have all kinds of extras to recommend, from adventure activities such as kayaking, canoeing, abseiling, archery on the lawns, clay laser shooting, to Butlers in the Buff that mix and serve the our ladies cocktails to a vintage tea party served in the drawing room on fine bone china laden with cucumber sandwiches, delicious scones, strawberry jam and cream!

Tea often follows a tournament on the hard court (offering year round tennis) whilst the well mown croquet lawn in front of the farmhouse provides the opportunity to indulge in this very English fun activity during summer months, complemented so well with a glass of Pimms on a summers evening.  Park Farm feels like you're being transported into one of those old films where people had weekend house parties (ok... I realise there aren't servants bobbing as you pass them in the hall, but overall you're probably as close as you'll get!)

The supermarket shop can be ordered ahead and we are happy to meet and unpack everything so that you arrive to a fully stocked fridge and larder with with the bubbly on ice - you start having fun from the moment you walk through the door!

Hens come from far and wide to congregate here at Park Farm and the comments in the Guest Book speak for themselves.   Hens seek comfort, space, style and plenty of time to laugh, chat, chill and be together at this very special time and their environment is really important.  We have found that the recently installed hot tub has also added significantly to the weekends' enjoyment.

Finally, for those wishing to take advantage of one of the many walks from the house, you can set off armed with maps from the house on various walks, exploring the private woodland or even hiking to our local pub.  Some our really energetic Hens walk the 2 mile lane to Somerton to dine at the excellent local hostelries.

So check your dates and get in touch!  I'm Franceska and I'll do everything I can to assist you organising a Hen Weekend that none of you will forget!
